Medase [Thanks]to the NYDLBALL.com Staff and Supporters in Raleigh, NC... The event was festive and competitive that included 3 on 3 Hoops, a Mini-B-ball Camp and the introduction of the MVPE SKILLS CHALLENGE [Myslef Vs Planet Earth]. The day was an intergenerational, family friendly, mix that had many local children cheering on their parents, aunts and uncles. Congratulation to James "Sure-Shot" Taliaferro aka "Corner Pocket" for being crowned the July 2010 Raleigh, NC MVPE Skills Challenge Champion...with a combined score of 18 points for the 3 event Skills Challenge. James was a modest victor and commented, "I'm more of a point and click [man] than dribble and shoot so this is something special." James edged out Terrell "Buckets" Vega aka T-Mack and Lahh Woods in over time after there was a three way tie for this championship. The extended OT period was another round of 3-Ball where James knocked down 7 3's to capture the July 2010 Crown. [Video Soon to be posted]. After the competition it was time to sample some of the fine barbeque, beverage and salad that the state of North Carolina is famous for. Special Thanks to Big Kev and the City of Raleigh,NC Parks and Recreation. We look forward to returning to NC...Great Ballas, Great People and Great Food!!

You would think that after years of numerous tournaments, it would become merely routine to conduct such events. However, no matter how many tournaments, as the NYDLBALL Team produces, the outcome of each is rarely the same. Much was similar with our journey to North Carolina for our first NYDLBALL.com Harriet Tubman 3X3 Tournament in Raleigh. Usualy we would have players who were pre-registered before, except for this time we approached things rather uncommonly.

Upon the entrance to Raleigh's Recreation. Center we were prepared for at least thirty new members to this tournament, until we observed the space inside. There were only a few lingering players inside who seemed intent on a streneous, private, game of basketball. We asked if they were interested in participating in our traveling tournament, but we guess they felt overwhelmed by our numbers. Not until the closing of the event did I notice that we had at least twenty family, and staff members in attenced. It had then dawned that we must have looked mroe like a family during a reunion rather than an "International Basketball Skills and 3x3 Tournament."

In conclusion after the many attempts of all our members, we came to thre final draw. Which was between Terrel Vega aka T-Mack, Lahh Woods, and James "Corner Pocket" Taliaferro, they easily broke this tie as James rose above the rest an become our July 2010 Raleigh, NC Skills Challenge [MVPE] Champ. To his surprise he was awarded a trophy and a regional title in the MVPE Series [Myself Vs Planet Earth] bringing our tournament to a close. I believe that we built a sustaining relationship with the people of north Carolina and the coordinator of the Rec. Center, which will allow us to return to Raleigh in the months to come!
